Britain Election: “Opposition to Appeal, Opposition Says – Divisive Thinking
Britain Election : The UK’s Labour Party has criticized Conservative Party candidate Marko Longhi for seeking votes in the name of Kashmir. Longhi had appealed to voters to choose him over the Labour Party candidate, which the Labour Party termed divisive thinking.
Alongside Eid greetings, Warning Issued :
An official campaign letter from Tory candidate Marko Longhi in Dudley, West Midlands, England, which has sparked considerable discussion on social media, has been issued, along with Eid greetings to the Muslim community. He also warned voters about the upcoming third term of Prime Minister Modi in India, urging them to choose me instead of Labour Party candidate Sonia Kumar.
Addressing voters from the British Pakistani/Kashmiri community in Dudley in a letter, it was said, “Recently in India, BJP government has been elected again. This means that in the coming months, the people of Kashmir will have even more difficult times.”
‘I speak against the atrocities of the Indian government’ :
Longhi went on to write in the letter, “Recently Narendra Modi made it clear that he intends to grant full statehood to Kashmir, which means that the rights of Kashmiris and their special status will be completely removed. I was elected as your MP in 2019 and since then, I have been at the forefront of speaking out against the atrocities of the Indian government towards the people of Kashmir.”
Marko Longhi appealed to be elected in Britain’s general election on July 4, saying, “Who will speak for Kashmir in Parliament? Me, or Labour Party parliamentary candidate Sonia Kumar?”
Labour Party criticized Longhi:
Labour’s Indian Immigration Organization and fellow British Indian candidate Rajesh Agrawal attacked Longhi heavily for seeking votes in the name of Kashmir. Agrawal tweeted on social media, writing, “I strongly condemn Marko Longhi’s deeply divisive strategy of dividing and ruling communities in Dudley for political gain. At the same time, Agrawal appealed to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to withdraw support for Longhi’s party.
Rajesh Agrawal further wrote, “It is also very disappointing to see that a leader of Indian origin in the Conservative Party has allowed anti-India racism to spread within his party… We hope for Longhi’s immediate dismissal.””
