ChatGPT down again! Here’s what OpenAI says.
ChatGPT down again for the second time in a day, and users are having problems accessing the chatbot owing to OpenAI’s outage.
ChatGPT had recovered from what OpenAI termed as a “major outage” earlier today, which affected millions of users globally. It has only been a few hours since ChatGPT resumed normal operations.
The afternoon main disruption lasted more than two hours, and OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot was offline again within 12 hours. According to prior reports, ChatGPT difficulties began about 2.30 am ET / 7.30 am BDT / 4.30 pm AEST on June 4. Millions of users have claimed that they are unable to submit any prompts to the OpenAI chatbot when using ChatGPT’s website.
According to Downdetector, a website that monitors the health of online services, the number of OpenAI user complaints increased to 2,632 within a few hours of the recent ChatGPT outage. According to these figures, 81% of user complaints include issues with OpenAI’s popular AI chatbot. Meanwhile, the OpenAI website accounted for 14% of the complaints, with 5% of users experiencing difficulties running the mobile application.
OpenAI later released a fix around 7.30 a.m. ET / 12.30 p.m. BST / 4.30 p.m. AEST, restoring the service’s status to “working”. However, it appears that the fix did not fully resolve the issue.
However, this is not the first time OpenAI has encountered an outage. A few weeks ago, around May 22, ChatGPT went down twice in a single day.
OpenAI has not yet commented on what is causing ChatGPT’s largest outage of 2024… we’ll see.
