ChatGPT Down – unresponsive for numerous users, preventing them from using the enter button or accessing prior chats on the website.
Sam Altman’s OpenAI has recognized an ongoing service disruption impacting ChatGPT. According to their live platform status page, they are actively trying to mitigate the outage and restore access. The outage began early Tuesday, June 3, with reports of customers being unable to launch ChatGPT on Chrome.
Today’s ChatGPT difficulties were initially reported at about 2:30 ET on June 4. OpenAI admitted to a severe issue, with reports on the company’s status page stating that their AI backend had been inaccessible for several hours.
Later, around 7:30 AM ET / 12:30 PM BST / 4:30 PM AEST, OpenAI released an update declaring the service status as ‘all systems functioning.’ However, it appears that the repair did not fully work, as several users on social media reported that they are still unable to use the site – which OpenAI corroborated with more issues.
OpenAI’s status page suggests that they are looking into the issue. However, there are presently no details available about the projected duration of the ChatGPT outage. Notably, ChatGPT experienced a large outage on May 23, which lasted more than 8 hours. Despite these failures, OpenAI has achieved a remarkable 99.67% uptime in the last 90 days.
According to Downdetector, recent user complaints against OpenAI jumped to 2,632 in just a few hours owing to ChatGPT disruptions. 81% of these reports point to concerns with OpenAI’s popular AI chatbot. Meanwhile, 14% of complaints were lodged on the OpenAI website, with 5% of users reporting issues with the mobile application.”
